How-to-Make-Teriyaki-Sauce

Teriyaki sauce is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used for marinating, glazing, or dipping various kinds of dishes. It has a sweet and savory flavor that complements meat, seafood, tofu, and vegetables.

You can easily make your own teriyaki sauce at home with a few simple ingredients and a saucepan. Here are the steps to follow:

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup of cold water
  • 1 cup of soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar,
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder

method

1. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of cornstarch and 1/4 cup of cold water until smooth. This will help thicken the sauce later.

2. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of soy sauce, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of honey, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.

3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until it is thick and glossy.

4. Transfer the sauce to a glass jar or a squeeze bottle and let it cool completely before using or storing. You can keep the sauce in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

You can use this homemade teriyaki sauce for many different recipes, such as chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, or vegetable stir-fry.

You can also adjust the sweetness or saltiness of the sauce by adding more or less sugar or soy sauce. Enjoy your homemade teriyaki sauce and have fun experimenting with different dishes!
